You will help to create excellent instructional materials that support students and teachers in K-12 English Language Arts.  This is an opportunity to scale your impact and change classroom instruction.  We are looking for candidates with deep content and pedagogical knowledge who aren’t afraid to dig deep into making instructional materials and collaborate with others to do so.

The Role

As a LearnZillion English Language Arts Content Creator, your primary task will be to create excellent instructional materials that support students and teachers in ELA.  Through the selection process, you will be matched to a project that fits your strengths and our project needs.

Dream Team Content Creators are not employees of LearnZillion; this is a part-time, contract position.

About You

First and foremost, you have strong pedagogical and content knowledge of the English Language Arts Common Core State Standards. You’re detail-oriented and find joy in the challenge of developing instructional materials for students, as well as writing guidance for teachers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Using your content and pedagogical expertise, while following guidance and training, to create easy-to-use instructional materials that align with the specifications for excellence of specific material.  Materials include teacher- and student-facing activities and additional materials as well as guidance to support the activities.
  • Understand deeply all related materials being used in your assigned instructional materials, such as texts and tasks.
  • Participating in required remote collaboration and training sessions, both before and during the creation of content.
  • Updating existing work within specified turnaround time, incorporating all feedback and revisions into edits.
  • Maintaining reliable communication with members of the LearnZillion team regarding your progress and completion of assignments, including providing weekly status reports and submitting worked hours weekly.
  • Completing all parts of assigned project within specified time constraints, including meeting milestones along the way.

Qualities We’re Looking for in a Candidate:

  • Strong pedagogical and content knowledge of the K-12 English Language Arts Common Core State Standards, with focused expertise in one of the following grade bands: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12.
  • Strong knowledge of misconceptions students may have about concepts within a particular grade band.
  • Ability to author high-quality content while adhering to authoring guidance and deadlines.
  • Responsiveness to feedback and ability to apply feedback forward to new assignments.

Specific Requirements:

  • A passion for the mission at LearnZillion
  • BA/BS degree
  • 4+ years as a teacher
  • Outstanding writing skills
  • Can work a part-time, flexible schedule

Compensation:

Hourly rate will be dependent on specific project and role assignment within in the project
